Job Description
Responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and supporting the organization's
database platforms
Certification : Oracle / Microsoft Certification preferred
Technical Skills : 1. Strong understanding of database concepts including normalization, indexing,
partitioning, clustering, and high availability architectures.
2. Expertise in Oracle Database (19c & ahove) installation, configuration, patching and
performance tuning.
3. Experience with database high availability solutions such as Oracle RAC, Data Guard,
ASM, and SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and clustering, Oracle Golden
Gate
4. Backup and recovery using tools like RMAN, Data Pump, SQL Server Native Backup.
5. Performance tuning and optimization using tools such as AWR, ASH, RAT, Statspack,
SQL Profiler, and execution plan analysis.
6. Scripting proficiency in PL/SQL, T-SQL and Shell scripting (bash/ksh) for automation
of database tasks and reporting.
7. Familarity in database security and compliance, including encryption (TDE),
masking/redaction, auditing, user access controls, and implementation of security best
practices.
8. Hands-on experience with operating systems including Linux, Windows Server and
Solaris, in relation to database hosting and tuning.
9. Monitoring and alerting tools experience, such as Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM),
Manage engine, BMC, Zabbix for proactive DB monitoring.
10. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in resolving complex database issues
including locks, contention, deadlocks, memory leaks, and corruption recovery.
11. Knowledge of storage and filesystem technologies (ASM, SAN, NFS) as they relate to
database performance and capacity planning.
12. Familiarity with ITIL-based processes and change management practices in large-scale
production environments.
13. Clear communication skills to effectively work with application teams, infrastructure
groups, and non-technical stakeholders.
14. Excellent documentation skills for SOPs, recovery procedures, architecture diagrams,
and audit responses.
